Virginia June Sherman, 77, homemaker

Virginia June Sherman, a homemaker, died of heart failure Friday at her Severn home. She was 77.

Born in Kentucky and raised in College Park, the former Virginia Garretson had lived in Severn since 1942. She worked as a nursing assistant at an outpatient care facility in Severna Park from the early 1980s to the early 1990s.

In 1937, she married Elmer Lee Sherman, who died in 1987.

She enjoyed gardening and caring for her cat, Beauty, and was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Glen Burnie.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Barranco & Sons Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park.

She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Siders of Woodbine; a son, Eric Allen Sherman of Brooklyn Park; and five grandchildren.
