(as of 00: 2: 00 GMT) Boat beat: Chessie e-mail detailing boat's collision with a whale yesterday: "Chessie [was] running before 21 knots of breeze with the spinnaker up sailing at 12 to 14 knots when suddenly there was a loud thud. The crew was thrown forward as the boat slowed instantly, but only momentarily. The boat surged forward again and was back to sailing, almost as normal. Even though it felt like running aground on a sand bottom, it was obvious we had hit something large." An overboard inspection revealed damage to the keel and rudder.

Weather: High pressure will stretch from 42S/53E eastward.
