A&A Realty acquired by Long & Foster

Long & Foster Real Estate Inc. has acquired A&A Realty, which operates four sales offices in Western Maryland and West Virginia, including locations at Deep Creek Lake and a vacation rental and property management operation in McHenry.

The other two locations are on U.S. 219 South in Oakland and a seasonal resort sales location at Alpine Lake, W. Va. All four sites will become Long & Foster sales offices.

Karen Myers, former owner of A&A Realty, is manager of two of the Garrett County offices. Twenty-nine sales associates from A&A have joined Long & Foster.

A&A is Long & Foster's seventh acquisition in 10 months. Long & Foster has 120 sales offices in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington. The firm's 5,500 sales associates sold 50,000 properties worth $8.2 billion last year.

Liberty Village offers rientation and tour

Liberty Village, Maryland's first co-housing community, is holding an orientation and tour of the 27-acre site at 2 p.m. today at 12301 Liberty Road in Libertytown.

In a co-housing development, individuals own their homes but share some grounds and facilities, such as a clubhouse, workshops, child-care facility, dining room and garden plots.

Homebuyer workshop is Thursday evening

The NAACP and NationsBank are conducting a free homebuyer workshop from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at 909 E. 22nd St.

How much house the buyer can afford, how to tell if a house is worth the money, applying for a mortgage and working with a real estate agent are some of the topics to be covered.

Participants will be awarded a certificate entitling them to apply for NationsBank affordable mortgages.

Harkins Builders of Silver Spring is the nation's 12th largest multi-unit residential contractor by revenues, according to Engineering News Record. The firm has built dwelling units at Camp Allen Family Housing and the Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Va., Bolling Air Force Base and Bellevue Navy Housing in Washington, and at Fort Meade.

O'Conor, Piper & Flynn Realtors said sales associates Helen Glagola, Frederick; Carolyn Orr, Reisterstown; and Thomas N. Daniele, with its Bel Air-Abingdon office, have earned the Accredited Buyer Representative designation from the National Association of Realtors.

On the move

Corcoran Jennison Management Co. said Daniel Murray has returned to the Boston firm as president after three years with Boston Financial Group in Lansing, Mich. Jennison's 14,000 residential units include properties in Glen Burnie, Laurel and Gaithersburg.

Long & Foster Real Estate named Gloria Gardner vice president of its Auction Department. With the company since the auction section was formed in 1994, Gardner is a member of the national Auctioneers Association and its Virginia affiliate.
