Ballet Theater names Janet Morgan director New executive has been board member, officer

Janet M. Morgan, an investment manager and member of the board of Ballet Theater of Annapolis, has been named executive director of the ballet.

She succeeds Deborah H. Harris, who saw the company through its fall production of "Dracula" before returning to the art studio. Harris, who had worked for 5 1/2 years at the ballet, is a painter who exhibits through the Whitehall Gallery in Annapolis. Her work was exhibited last month at 49 West, a cafe-gallery.

Morgan, 47, is a partner in Mount Vernon Associates of Baltimore. She has been a member and officer of the board of trustees for 2 1/2 years.

The Arnold resident is a former dancer who studied at the Juilliard School in New York. She completed a bachelor's degree in physical education with a con-cen-tration in dance at Iowa State University and holds a master's degree in finance from Loyola College. She was a founder of Mount Vernon Associates in 1986.

An active member of the Severn Town Club since 1988 and an organizer of its annual Holly Ball for six years, Morgan has been a JTC state and district officer of the Maryland Federation of Women's Clubs.
