A youth who implied he had a handgun robbed another teen-ager of his jacket Saturday in McDonald's restaurant parking lot in Brooklyn Park, police said.

The victim told police that he was in the lot at Ritchie Highway and Townsend Avenue about 1 p.m., when another juvenile approached, implied he had a gun and demanded his jacket.

A man with a large-caliber handgun held up Whitey's Market in the 800 block of Hammonds Ferry Road on Sunday and locked the clerk in an office, police said.

Russel Mitter, the clerk, said the man walked into the store about 4 p.m. with a gun drawn.

He locked Mitter in the back office and fled with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

A man threatened to rob the Kmart store in the 6700 block of Ritchie Highway on Sunday but left without taking money from an open cash drawer, county police said.

A clerk said a man entered the store just before 11 a.m. and asked for change. When she opened the register, the man reached out to grab money from the drawer, but didn't take anything, police said.
