Walter Edward Thoms, 64, carpenter, Korean War vet

Walter Edward Thoms, a longtime Maryland resident and Korean War veteran, died Oct. 25 of cancer while living in Martinsburg, W.Va. He was 64.

Mr. Thoms was born in Baltimore and, in 1956, moved to Glen Burnie. He was a carpenter and a member of Carpenters Local #1590 for many years. He served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War.

He married Patricia A. Riggins in 1955. They divorced in 1989.

He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous Fellowship, Broadneck Elks Lodge #2608, Glen Burnie Elks #2266 and the Country Club Estates Recreation Association.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. tomorrow at the

Country Club Estates Recreation building in Glen Burnie.

He is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth S. Leitz of Selbyville, Del., Susan A. Thoms of Arnold, Kelly T. Wentz of Kelso, Wash., and Alison M. Thoms of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, John R. Thoms of Baltimore and William C. Thoms of New Bern, N.C.; a longtime companion, Doris Borror of Martinsville, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; and a great granddaughter.
