Tonight: Penguins at Red Wings. The Penguins, 0-2 against Detroit last season, face Niklas Lidstrom, Steve Yzerman and the Red Wings. The Red Wings have 57 goals this season.

Sitting out: Carolina goalie Sean Burke was removed from Wednesday night's lineup against Detroit, but the move was described as a hockey decision rather than one related to his being charged Sunday with beating his wife. Burke, 0-4-3 this season, could play by week's end.

Suspended: Florida coach Doug MacLean served the first game of his two-game suspension Wednesday night for running toward referee Dennis LaRue following a 4-3 overtime loss to Buffalo last Saturday. MacLean was also fined $5,000 and forfeited two games' pay, about $15,000.
