November 06, 1997

State police have arrested an inmate at the Baltimore County Detention Center on charges of stealing more than $8,000 in cash and property from vehicles in Manchester and a home in Westminster last summer.

Dennis L. Meinshein, 22, of Joppa is accused of four thefts of more than $300 between July 27 and Sept. 21, court records show. He also faces two counts of burglary, two counts of tampering with a vehicle, two counts of climbing in or on a vehicle and two counts of being a rogue and vagabond.

In court documents, police said stolen jewelry was found with an inmate's personal items at the Baltimore County jail.

Among the items reported stolen were two computers and printers, a gold necklace, a gold wedding band with diamonds, a cameo brooch, a diamond ring and $900. One of the computers, a printer and a briefcase were taken Sept. 3 from the state police cruiser of Capt. Greg Shipley, spokesman for the Maryland State Police, court records show.

Bail was set at $10,000. Meinshein was returned to Baltimore County to face unrelated charges.
