Westminster florist named outstanding citizen

Eileen Dutterer Gist, a Westminster florist and community volunteer, has been named Westminster Rotary Club's Outstanding Citizen for 1997.

During an awards dinner, Gist was lauded as an ethical businesswoman and significant volunteer. In the florist industry, she is active in the regional and national levels of the Florist's Transworld Delivery Association.

Dutterer's Flower Shop has decorated the Maryland governor's mansion and presidential inaugural activities.

Gist is active in Westminster Soroptimist Club, Carroll Lutheran Village, Westminster city and merchants organizations, Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and the Maryland State Board of Education.

The Rotary Club made a contribution to Carroll Lutheran Village in Gist's name.

Fire

Westminster: Firefighters responded at 9: 23 p.m. Tuesday to a fire alarm in the 100 block of Airport Drive. Units were out 29 minutes.
