New odds favor EF Language, 2 others

CAPE TOWN, South Africa - For Saturday's start of Leg 2 of the Whitbread Round the World Race, William Hill, the English bookmaker, has given odds on the nine boats left in the 31,600-mile race. They are:

9-4 - EF Language (Sweden), Merit Cup (Monaco), Innovation Kvaerner (Norway), which finished the 7,350-mile Leg 1 first, second and third.

9-2 - Silk Cut (Britain), which finished fourth.

9-1 - Toshiba (USA), which finished sixth.

14-1 - Chessie Racing (USA), which finished fifth.

25-1 - Swedish Match (Sweden), which finished eighth.

50-1 - BrunelSunergy (Holland), which finished 10th and last.

200-1 - EF Education (Sweden, all-female crew), which finished ninth.

America's Challenge, which finished seventh in Leg 1, withdrew last week because of financial problems.
