Program for seniors in New Windsor area gets new name, site

November 05, 1997

New Windsor's senior citizen program has a new name and a new home.

The Green Valley Senior Activities Site meets from 2 p.m. to 5: 30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at St. Luke's-Winter's Lutheran Church, 701 Green Valley Road.

The new name was chosen "because we'd like to attract a group not just from New Windsor but from Union Bridge, Uniontown and other communities," said Renee Deiaco, former site manager.

The program for the elderly had to leave New Windsor Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church because of renovations and expansion of the church, said Lynette Brewer, supervisor of community services for the county Bureau of Aging.

Deiaco said eight to 12 elderly people attend the program, which offers meals, games, nutrition education, information on health and issues important to senior citizens.

The Bureau of Aging is seeking a site manager to replace Deiaco, who is leaving to take a full-time job.
