Landeen scores twice to spark UConn to 3-2 win over UM women

Carmie Landeen scored two goals in the second half to lead fourth-ranked Connecticut to a 3-2 win yesterday over 18th-ranked Maryland in women's college soccer at Storrs, Conn.

Landeen's second goal came in the 77th minute and broke a 2-2 tie. Maryland (10-6-2) rallied to tie the game on a goal by Jackie Mynarski at 60: 45.

Michelle Salmon had a goal and an assist for the Terps. Her shot from 17 yards in the 39th minute forced a 1-1 tie that lasted until halftime.

Navy 4, Holy Cross 1: Sophomore Shannon Filbin scored two goals and added an assist as the Mids (10-7) eliminated the Crusaders from the upcoming Patriot League Tournament. Navy plays Army in the first round of the tournament Saturday in Hamilton, N.Y.

Men

Boston University 5, Towson 1: Nick Bone's two goals helped the Terriers (10-5-2) clinch second place in the America East with its win over the Tigers (9-8). Towson's Andre Wise cut the score to 2-1 at 58: 48.

Bucknell 2, Navy 0: Bill Epley and Brian Ruddy each scored a goal to lead the visiting Bison to a Patriot League victory over the Midshipmen (6-11, 2-4). The loss dropped Navy into a tie with Lafayette for the final spot in the conference tournament, but the Navy advances due to its 2-0 win over Lafayette earlier this season.
