FULLERTON -- An unidentified man was in custody with charges pending last night in the morning stabbing of a woman in her home near Fullerton.

The victim, Lucille A. Jones, 67, of the 4800 block of Ridge Road, was listed in serious condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, county police said.

Jones, who was stabbed several times in a bedroom, called a relative who summoned police to the house at 5: 45 a.m.

Police said the attack may have occurred about two hours earlier.

Fire damages townhouses in Middle River complex


MIDDLE RIVER -- Damage was estimated at $250,000 from a fire yesterday morning that spread through a row of townhouses in a Middle River rental complex.

The two-alarm blaze, reported shortly before 1: 30 a.m., began in one of the houses in the 9800 block of Edisto Way and spread to four others through a common attic, said Battalion Chief Mark Hubbard, a county Fire Department spokesman.

No one was in the home where the fire began, and the cause remained under investigation, Hubbard said.

Tenants in other homes escaped safely, and no injuries were reported.

MYERSVILLE -- A Frederick County elementary school

teacher has been charged with possession of child pornography downloaded from the Internet.

Gary Booth, 33, of Frederick, a fourth-grade teacher at Myersville Elementary, is accused of downloading a photograph of a nude, boy onto a school computer, according to court documents.

The incident is alleged to have occurred June 14, a Saturday. No students or other teachers were at the school at the time, according to police records.

Booth has been assigned to nonclassroom duty, a school system official said.
