Glendening set for weeklong trip to Israel

November 01, 1997|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Gov. Parris N. Glendening will leave Monday on a weeklong trip to Israel to promote economic development -- his fourth overseas trip as governor.

Glendening will travel with 24 business people and others at the invitation of the Baltimore Jewish Council and Associated Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore.

The governor is planning to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and business leaders.

The state will pay for Glendening and two staff members to make the trip, but figures on the cost were not available yesterday, a spokeswoman for the governor said.

Glendening has made two trips to Europe and one to Asia to promote Maryland in his three years in office.

The governor is scheduled to return Nov. 10.
