Mount Airy shoppers were startled about 1 p.m. yesterday when a hefty two-point buck jumped through the window of the Mount Airy Super Fresh, blunderered about the store, then crashed into a nearby video rental store before it was killed by police or animal control officers.

"We had a huge crash and an uninvited customer," said Robin Taylor, manager of the grocery store at Peacock Shopping Center on Route 27. "A big deer is the last thing you would expect in the middle of the afternoon."

The deer spent at least 15 minutes in the grocery store, Taylor said.

The animal left through the automatic doors, leaving behind a damaged window and blood stains.

Then it ventured to Video Den and crashed through another window.
