ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Anaheim Angels will not re-sign Tony Phillips who was arrested during the season on drug charges.

General manager Bill Bavasi said yesterday that the team has informed Phillips it does not intend to offer the 38-year-old free-agent utility player a contract.

Phillips is due in court Monday to face one count of misdemeanor cocaine possession. He is expected to enter a diversionary drug-counseling program.
