Nfl Week 9

October 26, 1997

Chicago (0-7) at Miami (5-2)

Time: 4 p.m., Ch. 45

Line: Dolphins by 9

Vs. spread: Bears 2-5; Dolphins 3-2.

Last week: Bears had a bye. Dolphins beat Ravens, 24-13.

Worth watching: RB Raymont Harris is the Bears' only legitimate Pro Bowl candidate, ranking third in the NFC in rushing (638 yards) and first in rushing TDs (six).

Outlook: Bears coach Dave Wann- stedt meets his mentor, Jimmy Johnson, for the first time in the regular season. With Eric Kramer at quarterback and the offensive line recovering from injuries, the Bears have a chance. But in the past few weeks, Dolphins QB Dan Marino has returned to form.

Notable: Bears are averaging 23.7 points when Kramer plays the entire game (three times this year).

BEARS: Out: CB James Burton (leg); G Chris Gray (knee). Doubtful: C Casey Wiegmann (shoulder). Questionable: DE Alonzo Spellman (shoulder); C-G Chris Villarrial (leg). Probable: TE John Allred (rib); WR Curtis Conway (collarbone).

DOLPHINS: Out: RB Stanley Pritchett (knee); DE Jason Taylor (arm). Doubtful: G Keith Sims (elbow); WR Lamar Thomas (ankle). Questionable: WR Brett Perriman (knee). Probable: WR Charles Jordan (neck); RB Bernie Parmalee (neck).

Minnesota (5-2) at Tampa Bay (5-2)

Time: 4 p.m., Ch. 5

Line: Bucs by 3

Vs. spread: Vikings 6-1; Bucs 5-2.

Last week: Both teams had a bye.

Worth watching: Minnesota QB Brad Johnson is third in the NFL and first in the NFC with 15 TD passes. Bucs rookie Warrick Dunn has four TD runs of at least 50 yards.

Outlook: The winner is assured a share of first place in the NFC Central at midseason and could be in sole possession if Green Bay loses tomorrow night. The Bucs have lost two straight division games (Green Bay, Detroit) and struggled the previous week against Arizona. They need to get QB Trent Dilfer playing the way he was early in the season. The Vikings, meanwhile, are on a roll, having won three straight, with big RB Robert Smith (745 yards, 5.8 per carry) leading the way.

Notable: Bucs have won six straight games when leading at halftime.

VIKINGS: Probable: RB Leroy Hoard (shoulder); S Orlando Thomas (knee); WR Chris Walsh (thigh).

BUCS: Probable: WR Reidel Anthony (foot); WR Horace Copeland (knee); RB Warrick Dunn (hamstring); LB Jeff Gooch (hand).
