1996 Estancia Pinnacles Pinot Noir, Monterey County...

Wine of the week

October 26, 1997|By Michael Dresser

1996 Estancia Pinnacles Pinot Noir, Monterey County ($11).

This is not a classic Burgundian pinot noir but a distinctly Californian style with lush, black-cherry fruit, a hint of smoked meat, a touch of mint and an earthy richness. This medium- to full-bodied red wine will likely improve over the next year or two. Try it with grilled tuna or roast chicken or game hens.
