Fairfield edges Loyola, 2-1, earns MAAC's top seed

Abby Allan and Colleen O'Connor scored second-half goals yesterday to give Fairfield a 2-1 win over host Loyola in women's soccer and prevent the Greyhounds from grabbing a share of the lead in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

The Stags finished their conference slate 9-0-0 and earned the top seed in the MAAC tournament, which second-seeded Loyola (7-1-0 in conference) will host beginning Oct. 31.

Maryland 2, Dartmouth 1, OT: Robin McCullough scored two goals, including the game-winner five minutes into overtime, to lead the Terrapins (8-5-2).

Navy 4, Lehigh 0: Cori Thornton scored three goals to lead the host Midshipmen (8-6, 3-2 in the Patriot League).

Men's soccer

Navy 4, Army 3: Navy got two goals and an assist from Matt Neely to upend visiting Army.

South Florida 2, Loyola 1, OT: The Greyhounds (8-7-2) lost in the first round of the Bell South Classic at Florida International in Miami. Eddie Testa tied it at 83: 57.
