Thefts from unlocked cars are continuing, police say

October 23, 1997

Unlocked cars from Westminster to Eldersburg continue to be the targets of thieves who are stealing electronic equipment -- cellular phones, compact discs and disc players, police said.

Police received more than a dozen complaints during the weekend. Residents on Longleaf Pine Road in Eldersburg reported property was stolen from their unlocked vehicles late Sunday or early Monday, police said. Besides electronic equipment, money was reported stolen.

Police are urging residents to lock their vehicles and to place valuable items out of sight.

Anyone with information about the thefts may call Tfc. Kevin Stitcher at the Westminster barracks of the Maryland State Police at 410-848-3111 or 410-876-2101.
