Francis V. Morgan, 77, Bethlehem Steel clerk

A memorial service for Francis V. Morgan, a retired Bethlehem Steel Corp. clerk, will be held at 12: 30 p.m. Nov. 9 at First Unitarian Church, Charles and Franklin streets, where he was a member.

Mr. Morgan died of lung cancer Oct. 6 at Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care in Towson. He was 77 and lived in Charles Village all of his life.

He retired from the steelmaker's Sparrows Point plant in 1982 after 35 years as a clerk in the rod and wire mill. He was a 1938 graduate of City College and repeated his senior year at Boys' Latin School, graduating in 1939.

The World War II veteran served in the merchant marine.

He was an annual subscriber to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the Folger Theater in Washington.

The lifelong bachelor is survived by a cousin, Calvin Rogers of Severna Park; and close friends Al Filbert of Bel Air and Michael Barrett, Alice Rodman and Doris Singer, all of Charles Village.
