A man stuck a small black handgun in the back of the manager of a Glen Burnie restaurant as he opened the restaurant Friday and robbed it of an undisclosed amount of money, county police said.

Manager Thomas Ohl Jr., 21, was opening Checkers restaurant in the 1400 block of Crain Highway just after 7 a.m. when the gunman approached him from behind and forced him inside, police said.

The man ordered Ohl to disarm the alarm, open a safe and place money in a green bag, police said. He threatened to kill Ohl and took his car keys, then wet a sock, tied Ohl's hands together and left, taking Ohl's 1997 Dodge Stratus. Police did not have a detailed description of the gunman. The car, with Maryland license tags DVP 923, was missing yesterday.
