In brief

A set of Baltimore-made electric trains broke previous sales records when it sold for $44,550 at the Greenberg auction in Sykesville earlier this month.

The three Voltamp engines and nine cars, made about 1915, took less than two minutes to sell to Ken Post, a Closter, N.J., collector and toy dealer.

"It happened real fast," said Post, who estimated he now has about 100 Voltamp toy train engines, cars and accessories in his collection.

Voltamp, manufactured in Baltimore near the Lexington Market between 1903 and 1923, is considered a major collectible.
