(as of 6: 07 p.m. GMT) Boat beat: Campbell Field, son of America's Challenge skipper Ross Field, lost part of a finger after it became caught in the main sheet block. Race organizers said yesterday that the 27-year-old yacht medic suffered the injury while pushing the boom across the boat at night. Field lost the tip of the index finger of his right hand. "We have him full of drugs now and he's enjoying a nice ride into Cape Town from his bunk," Ross Field said. EF Language extended its lead to 116 miles over Merit Cup, with Innovation Kvaerner in third, 13 miles back. Silk Cut was in fourth, 416 miles off the lead, and Chessie Racing fifth, 627 miles behind.

Weather: Northwest winds of 25-40 knots will sweep across all but the frontrunners today.
