Richmond blanks UMBC women, 2-0

Chrissy Breslin and Maya Clark scored second-half goals as Richmond shut out visiting UMBC, 2-0, yesterday in women's soccer.

Richmond goalie Eileen Jacxsens made seven saves for her seventh shutout of the season. The win improved the Spiders to 10-5; the Retrievers dropped to 7-6.

Johns Hopkins 4, Widener 3: Rachael Abelson scored both her goals in the first four minutes of play to power the visiting Blue Jays (11-1) past the Pioneers (6-11) in Chester, Pa.

W. Maryland 2, Frostburg 0: Sophomore Jessica Horwath (Glenelg) made nine saves to record her first shutout of the season, helping the visiting Green Terror (4-8) past the Bobcats (3-10) in a nonconference game.

Lafayette 4, Mount St. Mary's 1: Kate Renning scored twice to power Lafayette (4-7-2) past visiting Mount St. Mary's (3-8-1).

Men's soccer

Washington College 5, Villa Julie 1: Junior forward Dan Gerbasi (Broadneck) had a hat trick as the Shoremen (5-7) picked up their fifth win in six games, stopping the host Mustangs (3-12).
