Chocoholic alert from Venezuela

Gourmet coffee doesn't interest you, and you could care less about fine wines. But what about a rare varietal of Venezuelan chocolate? Made from the unblended Carenero Superior cacao, a bean known for its intense flavor, Venezuelan chocolate by El Rey "offers complex notes of fruit, nut, flower and spice." Truth or hype? You can try it for yourself now that El Rey chocolate is available at local specialty stores like the Fells Point Coffee, Cheese & Natural Grocer and Sutton Place Gourmet. The cost ranges from around $3 for an individual bar to $9 for a three-serving bar.

Do-it-yourself sushi

Learn a new cooking (well, food preparation) skill with Kawasaki's sushi-making class, which will be held Oct. 25. The cost is $50, and the class is limited to 12. Call 410-659-7600 for the exact time and to reserve a place. Kawasaki is at 413 N. Charles St.

Vitamin labels

Look for your bottle of vitamins to have full nutrition labeling now that the FDA has published final dietary supplement labeling regulations. The new label format will help consumers analyze and compare what they are buying. The regulations become effective in 18 months.
