Boat beat: "No wind and no escape visible anywhere on the horizon," said Chris Dickson, skipper of Toshiba, after his yacht clawed closer to the leaders only to find itself once again becalmed in the Doldrums. Dickson also watched as America's Challenge and Swedish Match made up all the ground they lost to Toshiba in recent days. "A 35-mile loss for us in only six hours," Dickson said. "A week's worth of hard work out the window."

Weather: Cold front will push to 25S/25W that will bring strengthening north to northwest winds to the entire area south of 20S and west of 20W.
