Lions break ground for ball-field project

October 08, 1997

The Hampstead Lions Club broke ground recently for an expansion of the community ball fields.

The club is planning to add a football-soccer field and two baseball fields to the park.

Contractor C. J. Miller Inc. expects to have the grading finished and the fields ready for seeding this month.

Fields are expected to be ready for use next spring.

More than 900 youngsters participated in Little League programs in the past season, and the club has started a Ravens youth football program.

The Lions are holding fund-raisers to pay for the new fields. A recent basket bingo event yielded more than $4,000.

The club is selling Entertainment '98 Books for $35.

Books are available from members and at the True Value Hardware Store in Hampstead.
