Boat beat: Andrew Preece, the racing editor of the British magazine Yachting World, on the addition of two turning marks off the islands near Brazil: "I can't help but think a lot has been taken out of the race. Turning marks and shorter legs mean boats will likely follow similar tracks, leaving little chance to get back at the leaders. The place changing and the tactical intrigue over the last two weeks will be fewer than before."

Weather: Southeasterly winds with speeds of 13-20 knots likely. Winds will continue light, 6-12 knots, between 2N-8N.
