Church to send volunteers to S.D. to restore flood-damaged homes

October 07, 1997

Trinity Lutheran Church of Taneytown is sending a group of volunteers to Watertown, S.D., to help restore flood-damaged homes.

The group will leave Saturday and spend a week in Watertown doing major repairs before cold weather sets in.

Many living in the damaged homes are elderly and need a helping hand.

Lutheran Domestic Disaster Response will pay for repair materials and provide food and housing for workers.

The church held fund-raisers to pay travel expenses for its team of volunteers and thanks all who helped with the project.

Fire

New Windsor: Firefighters from Westminster and Pleasant Valley assisted New Windsor at 12: 01 a.m. Sunday, responding to an oil leak on Smith Road. Units were out two hours, 26 minutes.
