Running backs

Bam Morris ran well in the first half but wasn't much of a factor in the second. The Ravens need to work rookie Jay Graham into the mix because he is the only back capable of a breakaway run. The Ravens ran the ball only seven times after taking a 24-7 lead at the half.

C

Quarterback

Vinny Testaverde had an up-and-down game, but his timing seemed to be off with receivers Michael Jackson and Derrick Alexander. Testaverde also needs to protect the ball better when scrambling. As team leader, he seemed to lose confidence in the third quarter.

D

Receivers

Jackson was inches away from several big plays and Alexander was effective on short- to mid-range passes. The tight ends, Eric Green and Brian Kinchen, had good days, each with a touchdown reception.

C

Offensive linemen

The four sacks allowed are somewhat misleading because the offensive line handled the Steelers' pass rush fairly well. The Ravens rushed just 18 times, but when they did, the line made some nice holes.

C

Defensive linemen

Tackles Larry Webster and James Jones did a good job of penetrating early, but seemed to wear down because of the Ravens' inability to mount offensive drives. Ends Michael McCrary and Rob Burnett were active.

C+

Linebackers

Ray Lewis was solid in the middle but rookies Jamie Sharper and Peter Boulware haven't learned to read and get off blocks. The Steelers were extremely effective running outside the tackles with Jerome Bettis because Sharper and Boulware kept getting hooked.

D

Defensive backs

Eugene Daniel played well replacing Donny Brady at right cornerback, but the Steelers went after an old victim. Now that Brady is benched, teams will throw at left cornerback Antonio Langham.

D

Special teams

The Ravens gave up a 97-yard kickoff return to open the second half, a huge play that helped turn the game.
