Columbia Bank president to get 'Good Scout' honor

James M. Bond Jr., president and chief executive officer of the Columbia Bank, will receive the "Good Scout" award from the National Pike District of the Baltimore Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.

He will be honored at a breakfast ceremony Wednesday at Turf Valley Hotel and Country Club in Ellicott City.

Bond has been an active member of the Boy Scouts, an executive board member of the Baltimore Area Council and an International Committee member, scoutmaster and Chartered Organization representative.

The chairman of this year's breakfast is Victor A. Broccolino of Howard County General Hospital.

COLA blood drive collects 33 pints

COLA, a national health care accreditation organization based in Columbia, held an American Red Cross blood drive Sept. 24 when 52 donors from 16 organizations in the Woodmere and Lakeview business complexes contributed.

Thirty-three pints of blood were collected.

Jeannette Duerr, an Ellicott City health communications specialist, has joined the University of Maryland School of Nursing staff as director of communications. She will manage public relations, marketing and community relations for the school. Duerr was communications director for the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
