New positions

Lyon and Davis join Teleport Communications

Teleport Communications Group appointed Linda Lyon as an account executive and John Davis Jr. as account representative. Lyon, formerly a senior sales representative with Northern Telecom, will be responsible for new business development. Davis, a former senior account executive with Advanced Telecom, will help in business development in the Baltimore area.

Hesse gets senior post at Science Center

Maryland Science Center named Richard M. Hesse senior director of finance and administration. A Columbia resident, he is a certified public accountant and holds a master's degree from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, where he is an adjunct professor in the graduate program. He is active in several accounting and professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Real Estate Accountants.

Eisner names Cole to vice presidency

Eisner & Associates said Dana Cole has joined the Baltimore marketing and ad agency as vice president and director of broadcast. Formerly with Trahan, Burden & Charles, the Denison University graduate has received several industry awards, including the London International Award.

Banking and finance

Carpenter is manager of new Wilde Lake bank

Columbia Bank named Anthony Carpenter manager of its newest branch in the Wilde Lake area of Columbia. Besides overseeing daily branch operations, he is charged with new business development and customer assistance. The Morgan State University business graduate is active in youth sports programs and formerly was a manager with First National Bank of Maryland.

Health care

Emerick is liaison for Union Memorial

Union Memorial Hospital, part of the Helix Health System, appointed Jan Emerick community outreach manager. She will be a liaison between the health care facility and its neighboring communities. The Abingdon resident has more than 20 years' experience in the health care industry and most recently was director of community and media relations for Church Hospital in East Baltimore.

Ellin & Tucker promotes Rosenthal

Ellin & Tucker, tax consultants and certified public accountants, promoted R. Christopher Rosenthal to director of its business valuation and litigation services group. A Baltimore resident, he is a qualified expert witness and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Society of Appraisers.

Commercial real estate

Manekin appoints Lentz assistant controller

Manekin Corp. appointed Robert Lentz as assistant controller at its Columbia-based accounting depatment. He will have responsibility for financial reporting of all property management and land development projects.

Formerly with MIE Properties, Lentz is a certified public accountant and MBA graduate of Loyola College.
