Limits on water use lifted in Freedom

Carroll County Commissioners have lifted the water use restriction in the Freedom area.

The restriction asked residents to limit outside watering to odd -- or even days, based on their street address. The ban was imposed during the summer drought and extended through last month.

The commissioners said September water usage was down and water flow has returned to normal.

Man armed with shotgun robs Eldersburg pizza shop

A man armed with a sawed-off shotgun robbed an Eldersburg pizza shop and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money Wednesday, state police said.

No one was injured in the 9: 50 p.m. incident at Domino's Pizza in the 1300 block of Liberty Road.

Police are looking for a thin, clean-shaven white male, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and about age 35. He wore a dark blue knit cap, dark long-sleeve shirt and large oval sunglasses.

Fires

Sykesville: Firefighters from Winfield and West Friendship in Howard County assisted Sykesville at 3: 18 p.m. Wednesday, responding to smoke in an attic in the first block of Schneider Drive. Units were out 26 minutes.

Gamber: Firefighters from Reese assisted Gamber at 11: 04 p.m. Wednesday, responding to a house fire on Deer Park Road. Units were out 30 minutes.
