October 02, 1997

A man robbed a Sykesville convenience store late Tuesday and ran off with an undisclosed amount of money, state police said.

Police said a man walked into the High's Dairy store in the 6200 block of Sykesville Road about 10: 50 p.m., accosted the clerk and demanded money while suggesting he had a gun. The clerk was not injured, and no weapon was displayed, police said.

The robber was described as a white man in his mid- to late 20s, about 5 feet 10. He was unshaven and wearing round wire-rim sunglasses, a blue knit hat, a black long-sleeve shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. Doug Wehland at the Westminster barracks of the Maryland State Police at 410-848-3111 or 410-876-8989.

Sykesville: Firefighters from West Friendship in Howard County assisted Sykesville at 6: 44 a.m. Tuesday, responding to a fire alarm in the 700 block of Obrecht Road. Units were out four minutes.
