Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore and Baltimore County.

Southeastern District

Robbery try: Police were seeking a man who tried to rob Carson's grocery store in the 2100 block of E. Lombard St. with an unloaded handgun about 9 p.m. Tuesday. After the man pointed a gun at the store owner and demanded money, the owner got his own handgun and fired at least five shots at the man. The gunman escaped by crashing through a window. Outside the store, police found the suspect's unloaded handgun.

Northwestern District

Shooting: A 42-year-old man was walking near the 4400 block of Pimlico Road about 11 p.m. Tuesday when he heard gunshots and felt pain in his back. The man was shot in the left shoulder and was in good condition at Sinai Hospital yesterday.

Western District

Narcotic arrest: Officer Shawn Green was on foot patrol in the 2600 block of Edmondson Ave. on Tuesday when he spotted several men in a park who appeared to be involved in drug transactions. When all but one man fled, Green asked if the man had any drugs in his possession. The man took $100 and a capsule of suspected cocaine from his pockets and was arrested. Rodney Keith Prater, 33, of the 2400 block of Calverton Heights Road was charged with possession of suspected cocaine.

Southern District

Burglary: A cellular phone, camera, a stereo cassette player and a telephone, all valued at more than $1,200, were stolen Tuesday from an office trailer at Ceco Corp. in the 1200 block of S. Russell St.

Southwestern District

Robbery/arrest: A man was in the 400 block of Edgedale Road about 5 p.m. Tuesday when a gunman and a woman with a knife robbed him of more than $300, a diamond ring and a pager, all valued at nearly $1,200. During the robbery, the woman cut the man with the knife. Later, police arrested the gunman and were seeking the woman. The victim was not seriously injured.

Eastern District

Assault: During an argument, a 15-year-old boy cut an 11-year-old girl on the left wrist with a knife Tuesday in the 2200 block of Ashland Ave.

Burglary: A toilet valued at nearly $200 was stolen Monday or Tuesday from a house being renovated in the 1300 block of E. Eden St.

Essex Precinct

Burglary: A videocassette recorder, video games and a pager, all valued at nearly $500, were stolen Tuesday from a house in the 500 block of Carrollwood Road.

North Point Precinct

Burglary: A videocassette recorder and video games, all valued at more than $500, were stolen Tuesday from a house in the 7100 block of Martell Ave.

Burglary: A radial arm saw valued at $500 was stolen Tuesday from a house in the 8100 block of Eleanor Terrace. The thief entered through a doggy-door cut into the basement door.

Burglary: A videocassette recorder with remote and valued at more than $200 was stolen Tuesday from a house in the 1700 block of Langport Ave.

Parkville Precinct

Burglary: A videocassette recorder and a 35 mm camera, all valued at $600, were stolen Tuesday from a house in the 4800 block of Hydes Road. Entry was gained by climbing a ladder to a second-story window.

Cockeysville Precinct

Attempted murder/arrest: Two men who live together in the 1700 block of N. Fulton Ave. in Baltimore City were on the job in the 1900 block of Greenspring Drive on Tuesday morning when they argued over food missing from their refrigerator. During the argument, one allegedly stabbed the other in the neck. The victim was treated at Sinai Hospital. Clarence Whittington, 42, was arrested at the scene and charged with attempted murder.
