Maj. Gen. William M. "Bud" Miley, 99, a pioneer in developing the Army's airborne forces, died Wednesday in Starkville, Miss. He was the last surviving division commander from World War II.

Dr. Victor Szebehely, 76, a theoretician of celestial mechanics whose work in the 1950s provided the tools still used to chart the orbits of spacecraft, died of cancer Sept. 13 at his home in Austin, Texas. His teaching career included a period at the University of Maryland.
