Brewers update

Milwaukee closes its season with a last push toward second place in the AL Central. The low-budget Brewers are a game behind the second-place Chicago White Sox and 7 1/2 games behind Cleveland. Milwaukee has taken five of eight games against the Orioles this season, and D'Amico has been the greatest source of frustration. He's beaten the Orioles three times, limiting them to four earned runs and 11 hits in 19 innings. Erickson is 0-2 against the Brewers, giving up nine earned runs in 10 2/3 innings. Key also is 0-2, having surrendered six earned runs and 15 hits in 12 innings. Both pitchers are hoping to carry strong outings in this series into the Division Series against Seattle. Karl is 0-2 against the Orioles, allowing 10 earned runs and 15 hits in 11 1/3 innings. Harnisch will make his first start against his former team. He began the season with the New York Mets, who released him while the team was in Baltimore in late August. Orioles manager Davey Johnson figures to rest some regulars by giving them the night off or reducing the number of innings.
