A gunman wearing surgical gloves, black sunglasses and a camouflage-style baseball cap robbed an Annapolis bank of an undisclosed amount of money Tuesday, county police said.

The man, who displayed a semiautomatic handgun, walked into the Annapolis Bank & Trust branch in the 700 block of E. College Parkway about 1: 30 p.m. and announced a robbery.

He jumped over the counter, took cash from several teller stations, then fled on foot toward westbound U.S. 50, police said.

A 26-year-old woman told police she was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night while walking through her Glen Burnie neighborhood, police said.

Tara L. Belch was on Allen Road about 9: 30 p.m. when a gunman approached and told her, "Give it to me," according to police. She handed over her purse.

The robber ordered Belch to run, and he fled south on Harris Heights Avenue, police said.

A sheriff's deputy and police searched the area but did not find the man.

A Pasadena man told police he was awakened Tuesday night by a man who punched him in the face, then beat him unconscious and stole $600.

Joseph Giles, 46, said he awoke later to find the money missing from a living-room table in his Railroad Avenue home.

Giles was taken to North Arundel Hospital for treatment.
