A Manchester boy died Monday night after he apparently rode his bicycle into the path of a pickup truck on Westminster Street, town police said.

Timothy Barrett, 7, of Park Avenue, a second-grader at Manchester Elementary, was resuscitated at the scene of the 4 p.m. accident but died at 10: 55 p.m. in the pediatric unit of Johns Hopkins Hospital, said Sgt. Joe Lettau.

"He was riding his bicycle west on Westminster Street and pulled in front of the small pickup," Lettau said.

No charges will be filed against the driver of the 1997 Chevrolet S-10 who "had no time to react," Lettau said.

The sergeant said the boy was not wearing a helmet.
