Man jailed in slaying charged in 2nd death

A man awaiting trial on a murder charge has been charged in another slaying, homicide Detective David Peckoo said last night.

Peckoo said Shawnta Purnell Jr., 22, of the 1000 block of Cedarcroft Road was arrested at the city jail last week and charged in the robbery and fatal shooting of Kevin Dwight Teel, 39, of the 1500 block of Northbourne Road on Oct. 17.

Purnell had been charged with murder in the Oct. 18 robbery and fatal shooting of Christopher Bailey, 18, of no known address, Peckoo said. Bodies of both victims were found in a wooded area off the 1500 block of Hartsdale Road.
