A 42-year-old Harford County man walking along U.S. 40 east of Route 24 outside Edgewood was struck about 1 a.m. yesterday by a pickup truck whose driver did not stop, said state police in Bel Air.

Stephen M. Staniec of Abingdon was in very serious condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, police said.

Police are searching for a red pickup truck, which should have front-end damage. Anyone with information should call the Bel Air barracks at 410-838-4101.
