Contest to measure your fan-aticism

O IS FOR OUTRAGEOUS A

September 22, 1997

XTC Show me the mania.

The Fan is looking for company to the playoffs. But she won't take just anyone. You gotta bleed orange and black, and you gotta prove it.

How? You decide.

Maybe you can pen your favorite player's praises in a song or write poetry that slams the Mariners. Or photograph yourself, your child or your pet in the most O-rageous, Yard-going outfit.

These are just suggestions. The Fan is open to haiku, top 10 lists, crayon scrawls, photographs, personal essays (no more than 25 words) and just about anything that shows your extreme fanitude and is publishable in a family newspaper.

The Fan will choose the winner and feature the winning entry in a story in the Today section.

Think fast: Entries must be received by Monday, Sept. 29. Send your best shot to The Fan, Features Department, The Baltimore Sun, 501 N. Calvert St., Baltimore 21278.

Or log on to SunSpot at www.sunspot.net for directions on how to e-mail The Fan.

The winner gets the seat next to The Fan at the first home game of the divisional playoffs on Oct. 4.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.

Entries must be received by Monday, Sept. 29, 1997. Entries will not be returned. Void where prohibited. Employees of The Baltimore Sun Inc., and its subsidiaries, and their families are not eligible to win. By claiming a prize, winners consent to The Sun's publication of their names, photographs and pertinent biographical information. The prize offered is valued at $30. The odds of winning depend upon the number of entries received.
