Del. Valley edges Salisbury, 14-12

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. -- George Mayer's 29-yard field-goal attempt sailed wide right with 8.7 seconds remaining yesterday and Delaware Valley held on for a 14-12 win over Salisbury State.

Salisbury State (1-1) drove 68 yards in 11 plays on the final drive, setting up Mayer's field-goal try.

The Aggies (1-1) scored both touchdowns on second-quarter passes from Joey Shenko. Matt Altieri's 25-yard touchdown catch with 53 seconds left in the half put the Aggies ahead for good, 14-6.

Salisbury scored first on a 64-yard punt return by Brian Doyle in the second quarter. The Sea Gulls pulled within 14-12 with a 1-yard pass from Matt Main to Mike Moss in the third quarter, but the conversion pass fell incomplete.
