NAACP, NationsBank offer free workshop

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and NationsBank are offering a free Home Buyer Workshop from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at 4805 Mount Hope Drive.

Workshop topics include credit, how much house you can afford, applying for a mortgage and working with a real estate agent.

Participants will be awarded a certificate entitling prospective homebuyers to apply for special NationsBank affordable mortgages.

Builder's Advantage, a new-homes sales and marketing firm, has opened for business in Crofton. The principals, Lynne Hagan and Susan Songy, formerly were with Builder's 1st Choice.

Builder's 1st Choice said the Columbia company has been hired by David S. Brown Enterprises of Owings Mills to handle the sales and marketing of all its single-family, townhouse and condominium communities.

Coldwell Banker Grempler Realty said Debbi Rivero and Debbie Latona-Adams have been chosen as members of the Sterling Society, an honor bestowed upon the top 20 percent of Coldwell Banker's 55,000 sales associates throughout North America.

Coldwell Banker Grempler Realty said Jack Benesch earned the Graduate Realtor Institute designation from the National Association of Realtors.

ERA Robert Ward Realty said its broker, Phil Drost, was named Realtor of the Year by the Harford County Association of Realtors. Drost was honored "for his professional and personal accomplishments and his adherence to high real estate ethical standards."

On the move

Builder's 1st Choice named Nick Armiger manager of BFC Buying Group, which helps builders with sign installation, printing and the purchase of lumber, counter tops and other building supplies.

Century 21 Anthony-Gavern Realtors said Lisa Arellano joined the firm as a sales associate in its Arnold office. Arellano is a member of the Anne Arundel County Association of Realtors.

Coldwell Banker Grempler Realty said Janet Rice is a new sales associate in the White Marsh office, while Betty Shepherd has joined the staff in Phoenix.

O'Conor, Piper & Flynn Realtors said Sharon Callahan joined the company as a sales associate in its Hampstead office.
