Taneytown business owners are sponsoring the city's first community map, which they hope to have printed and available to new residents and commercial and industrial prospects by next month.

The map will identify locations of sponsoring businesses, parks and key areas, economic development coordinator Nancy McCormick said. It will list emergency telephone numbers, recycling and trash-collection information.

McCormick said business owners also plan a community brochure that will provide information on recreation council programs, parks and town officials. The brochure is scheduled to be printed by early next year.
