Kelly Coogan of C. Milton Wright and Dulaney's Greg Vincent both had little trouble winning in yesterday's 17th Westminster Invitational at Western Maryland College.

Coogan sprinted to an early lead and never looked back, winning easily in 19 minutes, 26 seconds. Jill Krebs of South Carroll took second in 20: 33.

"Starting fast is what I planned to do," said Coogan. "I thought that would put me in the lead right away."

Vincent (16: 37) needed to work a bit harder in the boys race. He stayed in a pack during the first part of the run, but surged ahead at about halfway and rolled to a 20-second victory over South Carroll's Steve McClearn.

"I just tried to pick it up a little bit, and then progressed from there," said Vincent.

Vincent's teammates, the top-ranked Dulaney girls, notched 57 points for a victory over No. 9 Mount de Sales (72) and No. 2 Westminster (107).

Majorie Bollinger was the best Dulaney finisher, taking fourth. Kerrie Haacke (seventh) and Bianca Jay (ninth) also finished in the top 10 for the Lions.

The No. 2 ranked Westminster boys had an even easier time. The Owls put five runners, led by Jason Santucci's third-place finish, in the top 15 for 40 points.

Seventh-ranked Dulaney finished fourth with 138.
