Donald A. Schon, 66, who helped apply technical innovations in the space program to private industry, died Saturday in Newton, Mass.

Harvey Shapiro, 49, a quadriplegic attorney who fought for the rights of the disabled, died in Los Angeles on Aug. 30 of complications of pneumonia.

Victor Szebehely, 76, a retired University of Texas aerospace professor who was an expert in orbital mechanics and whose work helped ensure the success of the Apollo moon flights, died Saturday in Austin.

Noriyuki Ushijima, 97, a renowned landscape painter and a recipient of Japan's Order of Cultural Merit, died Tuesday in Tokyo of respiratory failure.
