Officers to check drivers in Crofton for alcohol use

September 18, 1997

Anne Arundel County police will check drivers in Crofton this weekend for signs of drug or alcohol use.

About 25 officers will stop motorists from about 11 p.m. tomorrow through 3 a.m. Saturday, police officials said.

The project will be financed in part by a grant from the state Department of Transportation. Nearly 7,500 motorists have been stopped in five checkpoints this year across the county. The checkpoints have resulted in 59 arrests for drunken driving and eight for drug charges, and the seizure of six vehicles.
