Brewers update

Not long ago, Milwaukee had designs on winning the AL Central title, but a stretch of eight losses in 11 games has dropped the Brewers seven behind the Cleveland Indians. They swept a three-game series here July 11-13. None of the games was decided by more than two runs. Erickson gave up three runs and nine hits in 6 1/3 innings on July 12. The next night, D'Amico earned his second win over the Orioles this year, allowing two runs in five innings. Ex-Oriole Doug Jones saved all three victories. He earned his 33rd save Monday night, striking out four in 1 1/3 innings and lowering his ERA to 1.86. D'Amico pitched a four-hit shutout against the Orioles on June 23. The Orioles won the next two nights, saddling Karl with his ninth loss in 11 decisions. Karl is 8-3 since then. Despite the Brewers' success at Camden Yards, they are 29-46 on the road. The Brewers rank fourth in the AL in pitching with a 4.28 ERA but have a team batting average of .261 and only 126 home runs.
